Among Us vs Hopeless

“It is because we are all impostors that we endure each other. The man who does not consent to lie will see the earth shrink under his feet: we are biologically obliged to the false”

    -Emile M. Cioran

Intro

For every ordinary person living their life, there are some who hide among us. These Imposters sometimes blind in so well that it’d be hopeless to ever find them. They can ruin people, relationships, crews, teams, organizations, and many more leaving them nothing more than a blob on the floor. Yet despite those setbacks, people still prevail from monsters who try and ruin things around them. Even in the darkest of nights, the moon still shines, unless it doesn’t…

Crewmates, The little silly astronaut men, pointing their fingers from their detached hands at all their friends from Innersloth’s Among Us.

Blobs, the scared little cave dwelling, light shimmering monster hunters that end up killing themselves more often than not from Upopa’s Hopeless

I’m Leonthe_neon, your awesome and cool host who's awesome and cool.

And Mr. Tree, save me (Sorry Tree)

Disclaimer: This is mainly for fun, so things may be wrong, but you know it's about the journey not the destination. (also probably spelling mistakes but like) also Spoilers.

So this battle could change depending on what we give both. So to lay a few ground rules before we go over everything. This battle will also be a team battle of sorts. So just to make it fair there will be an equal amount of each. We will now list everything that will be given to both. This was finished October 7th, 2024.

Background

Loading Data on the Crewmates

Space, the final frontier. Mankind has made it their goal to conquer the vast expanse of the land among the stars. Discovering what secrets it held, but maybe those secrets should be kept hidden. In Among Us, crewmates have been sent up to space to complete tasks and handle upkeep as they make their way from planet to planet. Using their ship, The Skeld, they travel among space to explore and discover. Along with making their way to research stations on planets (Such as Mira HQ or Polus). Each Crewmate has their own job and task, including engineers, scientists, etc. Though small and unthreatening, their intelligence helps them manage their ship and research stations. Everything runs smoothly…well until it doesn’t.

Somehow, someway, during a simple mission…something slipped aboard their ship. A cunning creature with the ability to sabotage, shapeshift, and turn invisible. This thing disguises itself as the crewmates and integrates them as a member of the team just so they could pick the astronauts off one by one. It’s the crewmates job to either complete their task and complete their mission safely before losing everything to the alien intruder, or find and vote off the imposter and throw him out into the cold void of space never to be seen again. So, join us and scan your card to climb aboard the Skeld for a mission you’ll never forget, just be weary of your friends, cause though the emptiness space might make you feel all alone…I can guarantee you that there is something among us.

Dwelling into the Blobs’ background

Sometimes caves are best left uncharted, for who knows what may lie within the dark caverns of the unknown. No one knows how they got there, whether they wandered into their own volition, got lost while exploring, or just found themselves there one day, the blobs seem to be stuck down there. All they know is to survive from the things that hide within, for inside those caves there lie many monsters. Monsters that would relentlessly hunt down the blobs. The blobs aren’t the most bravest of creatures, as they can be scared very easily. This would be a huge problem in how they could survive if they were too scared, but they still would prevail their best.

Once they found a minecart, they would soon make their way of the “Dark Cave” and would start their great cave escape. They would have to traverse for so long through the cave, losing many blobs in the process. But despite all odds, despite their cowardness, despite the hordes of monsters, they made it out. Yet even after escaping, all that lay outside was a desolate frozen wasteland, one that wasn’t built for life. Even with that they still managed to survive. They would soon start making bases and settlements around, and soon head down to the center of the earth. To once again go down to the similar place that they once started in, the same monsters always in pursuit, they still press one. Unless they just killed themselves because they were too scared…

Weapons and Equipment

Crewmates

Space suit

The crewmates wear these space suits 24\7 since their astronauts and stuff. They come in many colors and protect them from the harsh environments of space.

Skeld

The Skeld is the Crewmates ship that they use to pilot around space. It has many different features that we’ll get into in a later section. It has vents, windows, a reactor, and two engines.

Airship

A secondary ship that the crewmates have which is obviously a reference to Henry Stickmin. It’s much bigger than the Skeld and has many similar functions.

Wallet

Each crewmate has their very own wallet. They use this to hold important stuff like pictures, their ID, and money.

Skeld Ship Keys

As the name says, they’re keys to the Skeld. Every crewmate has them in order to lock and get into the Skeld ship.

Plunger

It plunges the toilet and someone's skull may be idk.

Tablets

The tablet can do a few things, like let them  download and send information to headquarters and let them communicate with other crew members.

Telescope

They use telescopes alot to look for things in space or just a general way to look around for any dangers.

Hammer and mallets

They use these to fix and build things. Whether that be on the ship or whenever they’re stranded on a random planet.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES HEROES IN A HALF SHELL TURTLE POWER. With these awesome ninja weapons they can cut, stab, and bonk opponets.

Sci-Fi guns

An assortment of Sci-Fi guns with no real knowledge on what they do or shoot. They have three “Laser Pistols” (Can’t say it actually shoots lasers) and then two other larger weaponry.

Energy Sword

The awesome plasma sword from Halo, theoretically making the Crewmates feel like Master Chief going around and slashing aliens.

Golden Luger

A German weapon made in the 1900’s coated in a sheet of pure gold.

Weapons (Asteroid Turrets)

The Skeld comes equipped with a laser weapon. One of the tasks the Crewmates have can sit in the chair fire at meteors floating about, destroying them.

Shields

The Skeld is able to turn on a defiance mode, activating its shields. This can protect it from the harmful things found in space.

Security cameras

Security Cams that they have positioned around the Skeld and Airship which gives them a bird's eye view of certain areas and hallways within the ship to keep an eye on any Imposters.

Evacuation pods

Kinda speaks for itself they use it to get off the ship in case its destroyed

Blobs

The blobs have multiple flashlights that let them see more easily in the dark. They even have a brighter version, giving off more light.

Candles

Their candles, they give light, nothing else needs to be said.

Hammers

On multiple occasions they have shown to have hammers. They use these to upgrade their guns, vehicles, and a few other things.

Helicopter backpack

They have a helicopter backpack that lets them fly around in the air.

  • Germany

  • Brazil

  • Spain

  • Goaly shirt (not a jersey)

Disco ball

🪩🪩🪩 wait the emoji isn’t working on my screen

Possible Tractor beam

This one is a bit complicated to include. In “Hopeless: Space Shooting” after collecting a few blobs, a tractor beam would come and suck them up and take them away. It’s never shown what actually is taking them or where they go, but it is something of note.

Soccer ball/Football

⚽⚽⚽

Tomatoes

Idk what you want me to say it's tomatoes

Apple

Oh hay, they’ve got an apple too.

Hourglass

The hourglass allows them to slow down their perception of time. This lets them get more accurate shots and over all shoot more.

Shield

This is a shield that the blobs can equipt. It gives them a protective cog-like ring around them/vehicles. The ring can also hurt monsters around them.

Gift box

It’s as simple as it gets, it’s a gift box that can be filled with various things, mainly coins or gems.

In Minecart…

Clock

Like the hourglass, the clock attached to their cart that slows down their perception of time. This lets them have better aim as well as just generally shoot faster than before. It can be upgraded to last even longer

Dynamite

An explosive device that causes a wide explosion, they have a bunch of these and can be made stronger by upgrading them.

Shield

A shield attached to their minecart. It creates a ring around the minecraft that hurts anything that touches it. It also protects them from damage they may take. It description states that it burns things when coming into contact

Blob compartment

This is a “small” compartment that holds blobs inside of the minecraft. It holds a bunch of blobs that may come across their path after having three blobs in the minecart. The minecart has a suction-like effect, sucking up any blobs in front of it when close enough.

Spikes

The minecart has attachable spikes that can be put in the front of it. This lets them hurt monsters by just running with them, but this may make them lose the spikes.

In Wooden Wagon…

Protective Roof

These are plates that are attached to the wooden wagon. The roof as, as it’s named, is a roof above the waggon. They provide more protection to the wagon itself, allowing them to take more damage.

Another seat

This is a seat that makes it to where there is another blob riding in the main compartment of the Wooden Waggon. This lets two blobs at a time fire at things around them rather than just one.

Blob compartment

Blob compartment holds blobs. I've typed this quite some times already (this one was the second last one)

In Snowcat…

Protective Roof

Like the wagon, it's a protective roof that can take damage for the blobs. This can be upgraded further more beyond then the wagon

More seats

they are seats that can be attached to the Snowcat. This lets them have more blobs in the front seat. This lets them be able to fire at more things as well as having more blobs on the lookout.

Blob compartment

Like the minecart, there is a “small” compartment that is inside the Snowcat. This lets them pick up any blobs on the way, storing them into a compartment in the Snowcat. Poor blob :(

In Lava Buggy…

Protective Roof

Pretty much the same as the ones on the Snowcat, however it can be upgraded to have even more. Additionally it’s stated to be lava proof, so that's cool.

More seats

Yeah this one is pretty much the same as before

Blob compartment

No way

In Stomper…

Protective Roof

Holy moly, it’s back. Ok but seriously, the Stomper is the most durable vehicle the Blobs have, being able to take the most hits out of the four.

Seats… again

Yeah they all have the same things basically.

Blob compartment

Yup

Skills and Abilities

Crewmates

Astronomer

Each crewmate is a trained Astronomer that go to explore space and other planets.

Electrical Knowledge

They have shown working with all sorts of equipment and tasks that involve decent knowledge on electricity.

Water Engineering Knowledge

They have created water systems and pipes that run water.

Culinary Skills

They have shown skills in cooking all sorts of foods.

Photography Skills

They take and develop pictures.

Piloting Skills

They are able to pilot the airship.

Craftsmanship

The crewmates have shown being able to craft all sorts of things. From walls, spears, ziplines, ladders, rafts, campfires, and many other things.

Minor Temperature Resistance

They are able to withstand cold temperatures, all the way down to -40 degrees. They are also able to stand next to lava that gets very hot. However this should be noted that this is most likely because of their space suits.

With Roles…

This will have all their roles, except one…

The Scientist

  • Information Gathering

    • Is able to know whenever a Crewmate has died using their tablet. The scientist’s table seems to be different from all the other ones, however the battery will need to recharge after using it.

The Engineer

  • Vent knowledge

    • As an engineer, they are able to use the vents to travel around quickly.

The Noise Maker

  • Sound manipulation

    • Once a noise maker is killed, they will produce a loud sound that gives all other crewmates the exact whereabouts of where the Noise Maker has died.

The Tracker

  • Tracking

    • The Tracker is able to place tracking devices onto other crewmates that tell their exact location for a certain amount of time.

As Ghosts…

Invisibility

Due to being a ghost, they are completely invisible to other living creatures.

Levitation and Flight

As a ghost they are able to float around and even fly.

Intangibility

Since they’re ghosts, they are able to fly through walls and floors phasing right through them. It should be noted that the crewmates are still able to interact with a few things, mostly related to their task.

Enhanced Senses

They are able to see in the dark. Furthermore, they are able to know of the Phantom’s location despite being able to turn invisible.

Type 7 Immortality

Technically, since they’re a ghost, they can’t die of normal means, that's because they’re already dead, but like.

As the Guardian Angel…

Wings

I mean they can already fly, but like…

Force Field creation

They are able to place a force field around fellow living crewmates, protecting them from harm. The force field will last for a few seconds, but will break once it has been hit. (this role sucks btw)

Blobs

Marksmanship mastery

The blobs are known to use a mass amount of weapons and have a decent knowledge of how to use them. This ranges from small handguns to more big things like miniguns, bazookas, flamethrowers to some more outlandish things. They are able to fight off against hordes of different types of monsters at a time with relative ease. Not to mention stuff like the hourglass or clock would make their marksman even more accurate .

Gunsmith mastery

The Blobs are capable of altering and adding attachments to their guns. They can upgrade guns by making them hold more rounds, become automatic, or just by out right turning them into a different gun sometimes.

Mechanics mastery

The Blobs have been shown fixing and upgrading all sorts of their vehicles. Either by physically altering them or just upgrading them to make them stronger.

burrowing

They are able to burrow into the ground to hide and avoid being attacked by monsters.

Sports mastery

They play soccer ⚽

Light Manipulation

One of the main abilities of the Blobs is admitting light from their body. This lets them navigate in dark areas and differentiate friend from foe, sometimes. How bright they get is tied with how scared they are. This means the more scared they are, the dimmer they’ll get.

Size manipulation

They are able to become smaller. This makes them harder to be grabbed or attacked, letting them get away more easily.

Force Field creation

The blobs are able to have a small bubble shield that grants them protection from attacks. This lets them take an extra hit and get away from monsters.

Blood manipulation???

They can make things they kill drop more blood than usual.

Possible portal creation

Now this is a pretty unknown on what exactly this is, well it's a portal but like, in the “Hopeless: the dark cave remake” the blobs come out of portals after restarting a round. The portals are also able to give them their guns.

It’s unclear where the portals come from, do they use these to travel? Either way it is something of note that should be mentioned, since it’s something tied to them.

Slight Cold resistance

They have been shown being in very cold places like in the caves, outside the caves, and “Freezing Over.”

Slight Heat resistance

The Blobs constantly have shown being able to be around hot areas filled with lava and magma. Such as in the caves or “Heck and back”.

In Minecart…

Light Admittance

Once the minecart has collected at least 3 Blobs, it begins to glow brightly. This lets them see more in the dark.

Slight Cold resistance

The minecart has been shown being in extremely cold places and environments inside the caves.

Slight Heat resistance

The minecraft has been shown riding around places with lava and magma.

In Wooden Wagon…

Cold resistance

The wooden wagon has shown to be able to withstand harsh cold temperatures.

Terrain mastery

Each vehicle was designed for a specific environment. The Wooden Wagon has shown to drive in highly snowed areas with huge mounds and bumpy terrain.

In Snowcat…

Cold resistance

The Snowcat is able to withstand super cold environments, such as “Freezing Over.”

Terrain mastery

The snow buggy easily drives over ice hills and mounds.

In Lava Buggy…

Heat resistance

The lava buggy was presumably crafted to withstand very high temperatures, such as “Heck and back.” and is stated to be lava proof.

Terrain mastery

The Lava Buggy is able to traverse over huge hills and mounds.

In Stomper…

Terrain mastery

The Stomper is the last vehicle they have and this one was more designed to travel over big and larger areas and hills. It does this by using six legs, hence the name stomper.

  • The clock and hourglass slow down their perception of time, letting them react to things even fast and shoot faster than before.

  • With the Snowcat, which should be comparable to a real life snowcat, can move at 18 mph at top speeds.

  • With the Lava Buggy, which should be comparable to a real life buggy, would be able to go at 60 mph at top speeds.

Weaknesses

Crewmates

The crewmates may be a crew, but due to the shape-shifting monster in their midst, they have overtime grown a lot more distrust around one another. This lack of trust can cause them to often throw out innocent crewmates into the black void of space; this also leads to them being pretty easily manipulated.

Also, many of their best abilities take time to recharge or only last for a limited time. These abilities can also be shut down by wrecking their communications. Not only does messing with coms hinder their abilities, it even somehow affects the guardian angel’s ability to create force fields, making them no longer able to at all.

And despite their arsenal, the crewmates are not much of fighters, easily being killed by the imposters. This is even shown when there are just one Imposter and one Crewmate.

Blobs

The Blobs are very prone to getting scared, very easily. They can get scared from Blobs dying, missing shots, accidently killing each other, of the dark (insane), being alone, the unknown, and just generally just anxious all the time. This is a huge issue for them as for one, the more scared they get the dimmer they get. Secondly, when scared they will start to sporadically shoot in random directions. but most importantly. When they get scared, they will kill themselves… yeah. When they get too scared they will shoot themselves in the head with whatever gun they are using. So killing more Blobs would not only decrease the numbers of blobs, but will also make them even more scared. So them getting scared is a very big issue that will play a major role in a fight.

Another huge weakness is that the Blobs not only kill themselves, but accidentally kill each other as well. This happens because the Blobs sometimes fire in random directions or accidentally mistake one in another for monsters in the dark, and as stated before, this will make them scared and fearful.

If the Blobs lose their weapons, they are practically defense from anything. As they noticeably lack many feats of their own, especially in terms of durability. Them also not having a weapon would most likely lead to them becoming more scared. Along with that, without their vehicles, they don’t have much means of protection. The only way they could protect themselves is with their bubble shield, which in itself isn’t that tough, leaving them without any proper ways to protect themselves. Their other shield isn’t necessarily a shield that protects from attacks, rather it’s something that harms things from getting close. So it doesn’t provide protection from attacks, just keeps monsters away. This also gets rid of their ways to move faster as they themselves aren’t that fast.

All of the Blobs vehicles are kind of situational. The minecart, being the one with the best equipment, can only be used on rails, which really limits it. All of their other vehicles are designed to survive against the temperatures. It would be better for them to either use the Lava Buggy for its speed or the Stomper for its defense.

Final Thoughts

Now that everything is out of the way, lets see which one of these self destructive Teams would be able to over take the other in a fight against each other.

Physical Stats

Stats are interesting, since they both don’t outright have that many feats. Strength wise, the Crewmates are able to hold and lift heavy things like diamonds and gold. They also have shown throwing a frisbee all the way to the horizon in 2 seconds. All of these would most likely be stronger than what the blobs have shown. The Blobs are able to dig through tough materials, but it’s not exactly clear how fast this takes, but regardless of this, they still do have a notable feat. The Blobs are able to hit each other so hard they break apart and fade away to dust. This could be on par with the Crewmates, however the Blobs themselves are hard to gauge how durable they are. They themselves have almost no real durability feats, so we can really only assume at the most, they are an average human, which is a bit iffy considering they are notably more jelly-like and so probably weaker. The Crewmates really are just shown more consistent feats in strength.

Both also notably lack durability feats, however from what we do see of the Crewmates, they have been shown surviving the Escape pod crashing into the Fungle Island. That alone is far greater than anything the Blobs have been shown even with their equipment. The Crewmates should just be More durable.

Finally, speed. This is an interesting one. Both actually don’t show much in terms of travel speed, and mostly in reaction. The Blob are able to react to the Footballs that are flying towards them at a decent speed, but the Crewmates are able to react and shoot meteors in space. This would be substantially greater than anything the Blobs have been shown, even with the weapons they have. Both are pretty much have no real speed feats, but Crewmates would have way better reaction speed.

Skills and Abilities

Both the Blobs and Crewmates have such different skill sets that in terms of a battle it is interesting to compare. Things like astronaut training, electrician experience, engineering, and the other things they have would make them more skilled overall, but in terms of fighting, they don't help too much in a fight to the Death. The Blobs have tons of knowledge on how to use many different types of guns and even how to modify them. They are simply more equipped to fight against other things more than the Crewmates are.

The Blobs as well simply had more abilities. Things like portal creation and force field creation offer a lot for the Blobs, meanwhile the Crewmates don’t really have that much to do. The things they do have that would help would be the Soundmaker. Once they kill the Soundmaker, it would give off a loud noise that would most certainly scare the Blobs . However it is important to bring up the fact that once a Crewmate dies, they will become a ghost. Being a ghost does provide additional abilities. The ghosts are technically able to interact with stuff, kind of, and that would most certainly scare the Blobs, as well as the Guardian angel who could protect one Crewmate for a short while, but could possibly get overwhelmed by the Blobs weapons. We’ve never seen them protect against something other than a one hit attack and it’s unclear how strong that shield is. The same argument could be applied to the shield the Blobs create, which is true, but at least with theirs, they don’t need to be dead and it stays until they get hit. The Blobs simply have both better skills and abilities to work with in a fight.

Weapons and Equipment

This first part is pretty clear cut, the Blobs have a ton of weapons to pull from, each with vastly different uses and ways to harm blobs. Things like the Fairy Duster or Re-Mind would simply bypass most durability, even instantly killing the Crewmates. They also have ones that would just simply over power the crewmates; like bazookas and minigun. Also would have weapons that are extremely fast shooting electricity, beams of light, lasers.

Now when it comes down to vehicles, the Crewmates simply had the way better option. The Skeld could far surpass any of the Blobs vehicles while also being able to fly. Things like the weapons on board they use to blast away meteors would be more than enough to kill most of the Blobs. All of the Blobs' vehicles mostly do the same thing and are specifically tailored to surviving certain environments. Now the question is, what could the Blobs do against it? Well not much, they could possibly explode their way in or use acid, lava, or some other thing to try and melt their way in. One of the main issues would be the shields on the Skeld, and furthermore, if we include the airship, that would only make it more difficult for the Blobs.

Now ignoring weapons and vehicles, in terms of who had the better equipment is a topic of discussion. The Blobs seemingly had more “magical” things, like the stopwatch or hourglass that would slow down their perception of time and allow them to make and fire more shots on the Crewmates, which would be very useful, seeing as the more they miss the more it would hinder them. Meanwhile the Crewmates more or less had miscellaneous items that wouldn’t be as useful as explosives or helicopter backpacks. The Crewmates may have a bit more to use, but in terms of usefulness, that's when it starts to fall flat. Blobs would take weapons and equipment, but the Crewmates have better vehicles.

Conclusion

Crewmates

Advantages:

  • + More durable and stranger

  • + The Skeld cloud over power almost anything the Blobs had.

  • + Blobs had no real way to take down the Skeld.

  • + Had a less exploitable weakness.

  • + Far smarter than Blobs.

  • + Would have many ways to scare the Blobs.

  • + Have better teamsmanship.

  • + Dead Crewmates could still play a factor.

  • + Faster reaction wise…

  • + Had an overall better experience…

Disadvantages:

  • - …Both had equal travel speed.

  • - …But lacked many combate related skills

  • - Had less abilities to work with.

  • - Could get overwhelmed by Blobs Weapons.

  • - Had less weapons and not as useful equipment.

  • - Had no ways to get more Crewmates.

Blobs

Advantages:

  • + Had better combat abilities and skills

  • + Had a lot more weapons, ones that could one shot Crewmates.

  • + Had better equipment

  • + Similar Travel Speed.

  • + If they got lucky, they could kill the Crewmates…

  • + Could call in more Blobs…

Disadvantages:

  • - … But would lose more times than not.

  • - … But the more Blobs that died, the more scared the Blobs get.

  • - Were less durable and weaker.

  • - Had slower reaction speed.

  • - Vehicles were not as useful.

  • - Can get easily scared to the point they kill themselves.

  • - More likely to kill fellow Blobs.

  • - The more Blobs that die, the more they would get scared.

  • - did not have many ways around the Skeld.

  • - Could get easily overpowered by Skeld.

The only real way the Blobs could win is through sheer luck. They differently have what they need, but the fact that they can get very easily scared really hindered them. Let’s put it like this, a Blob dies, they get scared, the more scared the more erratic they could get, this could lead to them accidentally shooting another Blob, making them even more scared. Not to mention that the more shots they missed, the more scared they would get. The Crewmates would basically get a better chance of winning by simply killing one blob, and that chance only increased as more and more Blobs died. The Skeld as well played a huge part in deciding who one. The Skeld gave the Crewmates a huge advantage that the Blobs didn’t have a clear way around it.

The Winner is the Crewmate

Crewmates Votes: Leon, Tree

Blobs Votes: none :(

Big thanks to Tree for helping me with this blog, as well as to those who got this far, thanks! This blog was actually started way long ago, and we finally decided to finish it up during the Spooky season. So yeah, this was fun to make and actually researching the Blobs was fun despite their limited documentation; was super rawesome.

This Blog made me realize that joy isn’t free and can be lost, I am not tied to the people or contents within this document and don’t mistake it as such. (Sorry Tree)
