 Chrome Dino Respect Thread

So the Chrome Dino, or also known as the Lonely T-Rex, is a character with scarce media, and especially undocumented media. So for the purposes of this blog I will be using anything officially created and said by google and the developers, Sebastien Gabriel, Alan Bettes and Edward Jung. Things like games, interviews, videos, merch and projects all from google and developers will all be included. Things like art made by google, developers, or anyone that has official works on it will also be included. Anything else that isn’t from them I will not consider for the blog. As long as I can find it and consider it official enough I will include it for the Lonely T-rex. I tried my best to find everything, but there is a chance that I could have missed some things here or there.

Disclaimer: This is mainly for fun, so things may be wrong, but you know it's about the journey not the destination. (also probably spelling mistakes but like) also Spoilers.

Background 

In 2014 three people would work on one of the most famous games on google. Those three people, Sebastien Gabriel, Alan Bettes and Edward Jung, had gotten the idea to put on an endless runner game whenever you have no internet connection. The whole premise behind it was being based on the prehistoric age, when there was no internet (Duh). While not being a part of the prehistoric era, the Cacti, and desert, were from some of the first iterations of the games. The project was given the code name “Project Bolan” in homage to Marc Bolan and his band “T-Rex,” They wanted a fun and simple game, wanting to keep the movement stiff, reminiscent of older video games. It was the first time Edward Jung had actually ever coded a game, having many troubles at the beginning, but by September 2018 it would reach 270 million plays monthly.

Over the years, the Chrome Dino game would get many updates adding new features, like adding Pterodactyl, a night mode, even getting their own birthday, with cake, on the 10 anniversary of Chrome. During the 2020 Olympics, they were even invited to join in the Olympics themself, being able to partake in a few of the games like hurdling, surfing, horse riding, and more. As late as of 2024, google had launched GenDino, an new version of the classic endless running with there experimental AI remix. To this day, The Lonely T-Rex was never truly lonely, getting millions of plays a year, partaking in the Olympics, to even getting their own statue in Gyulagarak, Armenia, forever immortalized as an icon of the internet, loved by many.

Weapons and Equipment

Birthday Cake and Hat

Once they eat the birthday cake, it will give them a party hat. It's a vanilla birthday cake :)

Olympic Torch

They have an Olympic torch. Once the Chrome Dino picks it up, it seemingly transports them into different Olympic games during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Horse

During the 2020 Olympics, they ride a horse that can jump over huge hurdles.

Surfboard

During the 2020 Olympics, they ride a surfboard and are seen surfing the ocean and going over rocks.

Skateboard

During the 2021 Olympics, they are shown riding a skateboard, doing tricks and jumping trash and cones.

Flags

They have an assortment of flags ranging from different countries to even one of himself.

Olympic Medal

After every game they play, they earn a gold medal.

Doughnut

A doughnut that comes from the Chrome enterprise update. Whenever it is collected it will be transported to an office building and given to them a t-shirt and cup of coffee.

After collecting the doughnut, they are given a mug and T-shirt.

Skis

In the “Chrome Dino Hit the Slopes Scarf,” they are shown using skis.

Skills and Abilities

Acrobatics

They have shown to be good at acrobatics and other related sports.

Supernatural Stamina

The creators had designed for the game to last up to 17 million years. This means the Chrome Dinosaur is capable of running for at least 17 million years without ever getting tired. They are also to perform in many different sports during the Olympics

Teleportation

By collecting the Olympic torch or Doughnut, they are able to teleport to different Olympic games; hurdling, surfing, gymnastics, swimming, horse riding, and skateboard, and to an office building respectively. 

Self-Sustenance; 3, 2

They are able to travel days and nights, for 17 million years, without the need for sleep at all. They also, while having food items, never seem to need to eat anything.

Shapeshifting 

Google had created something called GenDino. GenDino was an experimental AI remix of the original Chrome Dino game. In GenDino, you are able to completely customise the game from the Dino, pterodactyls and cactuses. In most of the sites it shows the Lonely T-Rex being able to transform into other things 

Limited Light Manipulation

The Company Had designed a glow in the dark set of the original Chrome Dino Set in 2021. In this set the Chrome Dino can glow blue. As well as in some of the merch, they are seen being able to glow. Admittedly, all of this is the product rather than the Lonely T-Rex themselves. 

Physical Feats

Strength

• Real life T-rexes had a bite force of 12,814 pounds of force.

• Able to jump over Saguaro cactus.

• Saguaro cactus can grow up to 40 feet.

• The Horse is able to withstand the weight of the Lonely T-Rex.

• T-rexes could have weighed around 33,000 pounds.

• Real life horses are able to kick with a force of 10,000 Newtons or 2,248 pounds of force.

• Real life Horses are able to bite up to 500 psi.

Durability

• Survive running into a Pterodactyl and cacti at high speeds.

• Possibly able to survive the impact of the meteor that killed the dinosaur.

• The aftermath of the meteors are never shown so it's unclear if the Lonely T-Rex could actually survive the meteors.

Speed

• Real Life T-rexes were able to run at around 25 MPH.

• Progressively gets faster as they continue to run.

• Able to dodge Pterodactyl.

• Pterodactyl were able to fly at about speeds of 80 MPH.

• Calculation was made where the Chrome Dino was going at 9090.81 MPH.

• It should be known that these could be wrong, nor do I know how to calculate something like that, So take the calc with a grain of salt.

• The average speed of race horses used in things like the olympics can range from 40 to 70 MPH.

Weaknesses

For starters, there is barely anything to go off of the Chrome Dino, so they lack a lot of feats outside of real life scaling and what small things I could go over. The lack of feats makes them incredibly weak, well could still beat a human. Things like the meteor feet are inconclusive; we are never actually shown surviving it.

They also have no experience when it comes to fighting others. The only other character in the entire game in the Pterodactyls, which once they only crash into. Outside of crashing into things, they have no experience at all.

Overall

The Lonely T-Rex has been shown to have quite a bit of things and even abilities that range in how useful they are. The Chrome Dino, while lacking many feats, still has things that would put them a bit above the average T-rex.

This actually only took me a day to make, well I had some of the research a bit before hand, but most of it was done in a day. This was a ton of fun to make and research, even if everything was so spread out and took some real searching, I hope everyone enjoys the respect thread.
