Intro
People always say the best kind of game is a simple one. And what's more simple than jumping. Jumping has been around in gaming for a long time, not the start, but still for a long time. The first game to ever include jumping was Steeplechase, released in 1975. And while that game never took off, it paved the way for it. The game that you were probably thinking of when it comes to jumping is Donkey Kong released in 1981. This created the titular character Jump Man, or Mario as he’s known today. Despite his portly figure, he moves with valor. This is when gaming changed, entire characters based on jumping, and gaming is still feeling these effects. Characters like Chrome Dino, Flappy Bird, Cube from Geometry Dash, luigi, and our two main characters; Each from a different decade…
The Doodler, Doodle Jump’s prophesied hero and Lima Sky’s hit sensation since 2009.
“I know I like to jump”
Q*Bert, the Noser that saved the world and Gottlieb greatest hit since 1982
“@!#?@!”
This one’s actually pretty interesting on what’s included. Both do technically have lore, but also have plenty of main media that doesn’t really line up with any real lore either. So we’ll break this down, making it pretty simple
For The Doodler, they have every Main line game, as well as their Ports. As for extra media, we’ll include Crossovers, Books & Comics, and the Board Game. pretty much everything from its lifetime since 2009 to today. Most of Doodler's Lore comes from the Comics, and the any of the games don’t really expand beyond this, other then small aspects being included in more recent games and just general constituencies in the series. So it will pretty much be a Composite of Doodler.
For Q*Bert will also get all his Main Line Games and their Ports. Things get a bit more… weird from this part. Q*Berts lore kind of gets split up. Q*Bert 1999 is really the game that has the most lore. But Wreck-It Ralph had its own lore, which Q*bert Rebooted and onwards went with. Then theirs the Saturday Supercade show which has its own separate lore going on. So for this, we’ll simple Composite Q*Bert and give him All Media he’s appeared in.
Other note is due to the age and documentation for both series, there is a chance that we miss a few things. We’ll try our best to try and get everything though.

Background
Look at that doodle jump
The world of Doodle Jump is… well pretty barren all things considered. All we know at the start is there is off with a green and yellow little guy, named Doodle the Doodler. He just jumps around and avoids getting hit by monsters and black holes. His goal is simple, just get super high. However at some point, things would start to change. New areas would appear, lively places and enter new regions to explore, something that the Doodler really never had the chance. But what is this world exactly? The closest we have to an answer is in the comics.
The Doodler found himself in this strange world. With no memory other than that he likes to jump. He runs into some Triple, and explains that something strange happened to the world. These black holes started to appear throughout the world. This is where Doodler comes in. He was a part of his destiny and he would get a legendary armour set and then… we don’t know. The story was never finished, but that hasn’t stopped Doodler from doing what he loves. Look at that doodle jump.
@!#?@!
Q*Bert is just a simple little creature. He just jumps around and does his main goal, changing all the blocks to another colour. But there’s enemies that get in his way, like Coily an evil snake or Slick and Sam that change the colours back. That’s his main goal since 1982. This mostly stays the same throughout his history. Things didn’t start to change up tell Q*Bert (1999), where the story started to get introduced.
He was living a happy life, with other Nosers. But disaster struck, Coily somehow sucked away his entire world. Q*Bert only survived thanks to his Magic Disk. That’s when he noticed Q*Dina was also taken. So he went after Coily to save her and his world. After many worlds, he would find Coily, now a huge snake. So he used his Flying Disk to defeat him. Once he defeated him, life was good. Of course that’s not the end of his story. Whether it be meeting with Wreck It Ralph and the Gang or helping Adam Sandler save the world. He still jumps to cubes… Bert.
Weapons and Equipment
Doodler
Spring
When Doodler lands on this, it will launch him in the air. In other themes, the spring is replaced with Flowers, mushrooms, Shells, Vines, Candy Canes.
Trampoline
Just like the Spring, it launches them upwards. This is pretty much the better version of the spring. In other themes it’s replaced with a Jump Pad, Eyeball, Coral Reef.
Springshoes

These are similar to the spring, but these stay on the Doodler for a bit, letting them jump higher for longer. Other versions of this appear in other themes, like a Christmas version
Propeller Hat

This is a hat Doodler can put on, it lets him glide upwards for a short while. When this is used, all collectables are pulled towards Doodler. In other versions it’s replaced with a Space Hat, Bamboo Propeller, Orange version.
Jetpack

The Jetpack sends the Doodler high into the stage, going super fast. This is pretty much the better Propeller Hat. Just like the Hat, all collectables are pulled towards Doodler. In other themes it is replaced with a Bamboo Jetpack, Carrot Jetpack, Broom.
It even returns in Doodle Jump Race, where it’s capable of going sideways, playing like Flappy Bird.
Fire-Powered Jetpack

This one's a bit better than the Jetpack, letting you fly higher.
Pogo Ship

In the Retro Theme, the Spring Shoe is replaced with a Pogo Ship. It works pretty similar, but the main difference is that you can fire 3 shots instead of 1.
Space Ship

This is a space ship that he uses to fly around in space. This actually appears in a few different themes.
Submarine

This is similar to the Space Ship, but this one works underwater.
Shield

This shield protects Doodler from damage for a short while
Leaf Shield

Like the Shield, but in addition it also hides you from the enemies.
Treasure Map

When collected, they will lead Doodler to a treasure chest.
Resurrect Barrels

These help you if you ever fall, hit by a monster, or sucked away by a black hole and UFO. When used, you also get shot up into the air super high. Each theme has one, but they act the same, whether that be a Pipe, Egg, Actually Barrel, Space Ship.
Head Start Cannon

This fires Doodler super high at the start of the round, giving them a head start.
Wings

These let Doodler fly up into the air, similar to the jetpack, but require physical movement of the wings. So it could theoretically go higher than the Jetpack.
EMP

Doodler can pick up bombs and detonate them, exploding the area around him to disable any machinery.
Bomb

A bomb that he can activate to kill monsters around him and break wood blocks. It’s even capable of breaking metal Platforms in Doodle Jump Adventure.
Clock

Doodler can use this to stop time, freezing enemies and platforms to easily get around.
Jump Shoes

These are similar to the spring shoes, but are more futuristic. However, it also has another ability. Whatever platform it lands on, will turn into a normal green one.
Krabby Patty

These can be used to revive yourself. Like others, it can bring you back from getting sucked into black holes or UFOs.
Pogo Stick

Similar to the Spring Shoes, it lets you jump and bounce high. The difference with this is you get one big hop and then one small hop.
Bubble Buster

Working similar to the Jetpack, but this time you can also pop other bubblers to get more coins.
Magnetic Personality

When grabbed, you pull in all nearby collectables.
Jellyfish Sting ointment

I don’t have on screen footage of what this does, but it most likely alleviates the pain from Jellyfish Stings that makes you jump lower.
Balloons

This works like the propeller hat, taking you up some distance before popping.
magnet

This creates a small vortex around Doodler that sucks up any coins or Doodle Beans.
Spaceship

This is a massive space ship that the Doodler has. It’s unclear how big it is, but we do know that it has multiple rooms inside of it. One houses the main power, then the control room and then a room to hold all the little guys Doodler picks up.
It’s also able to use a tractor beam to teleport things outside and in the ship. The main power source seems to come from stars that have been eaten by a big creature, letting it traverse space with ease. It’s even able to travel to other planets in a short distance.
There’s also holograms, aliens, robots that help operate the ship for Doodler.
Sword

They got a sword!
Collectables

There are a few collectables in Doodle Jump. These are usually used to purchase things from a shop.

Q*Bert
Flying Disk

One of the most iconic aspects of Q*Bert's original Arcade Game. In the original game, these are used to fly to the top of the cubes rather than manually flying back up. He also uses this to bait out Coilys. These usually disappear after being used.
Permanent Disk

These are the same as the flying Disk, however these ones are reusable, letting your ride them as much as you want. These seem to reappear in Q*Bert (2019), where they take on a more black and white colour scheme.
Magic Disk

In Q*bert (1999), this is a Flying Disk that is made up of 4 different pieces. He used it to escape his world getting sucked into a vortex. It was also used in the final fight with Coily. This Disk seems to have more permanent flying capabilities. These are debatably the normal Flying Disk
Freezing Ball

One of the other items Qbert uses throughout the series. Whenever he touches a Freezing Ball, it will freeze all on-screen enemies. Time seems to be a stand still for everyone other than Qbert, however this is unclear considering the Transport Disk still spin and can even be used. QBert also is able to touch enemies that would otherwise kill them.
Shield

The Shield makes its first appearance in Qbert (1999). When Qbert grabs this, it will protect him from damage, or he can just hold onto this for later.
Speed Item

This item lets Qbert speed up, moving and jumping faster than before..
Wand

Whenever Qbert uses this. Q*Zaro will appear and shoot magic at a random enemy. When hit, they’ll be defeated.
Gem

When this is used it can get rid of entire boulders.
Hammer

This can be used to create whole tiles. And while Qbert himself hasn’t used it. He’s seen it used multiple times.
Bomb

When this is used, it will let builders know to destroy something.
Red Bomb

This seems to be a stronger bomb. When used, it’s capable of blowing up metal tiles.
Torch

When Qbert uses this, the light around him starts to get brighter, letting him see more of the area.
Keys

These are used to free Q*dina from her cage.
Stopwatch

This is like the Freezing Ball, stopping all enemies. This one however, does actually stop time.
Paint Can

When Q*Bert grabs them, the adjacent tiles will also change, as if he stepped onto them.
Card Board Cutout

When they’re collected, they’ll create a cardboard cut out of Q*Bert that enemies target.
Goo Orb

When the Goo Orb is collected, it will turn enemies into Goo that Q*Bert can then destroy, like Slick and Sam.
Fruits

These are fruits that give Qbert more points whenever they’re collected
Diamonds

These are items Qbert can collect. You can use them to buy things.
Slippy Doo

These are purple balls that he can throw at people. When they hit the ground, they spalt and leave a slippery residue. He actually uses this a lot in the show. Also don’t ask why the image is so saturated.
Q*Moon Blasters

After he stole a Ray Gun from an alien, he used it on a stand off against them. If you're hit by one of their beams, it freezes you in place for a while.
Motorcycle

He stole a motorcycle to run away from a biker gang. It can rid on walls for some reason.
Ghost Catcher

They made a Ghost Catcher to help catch three evil ghosts. It does evenly work, but not without mishaps. It’s actually pretty powerful, able to suck up entire armors off people.
Card Game Cards

The Card Game has some special cards that can be played to help yourself. There’s four different Special Cards to play.
Coily Card
When played, you can move Coily’s position to try and get your opponent.
Flying Disk Card
When played, Q*Bert moves to the starting position.
Red Ball Card
When played, opponent can’t move
Green Ball Card
When played, Q*Bert can move anywhere.
Costumes

Q*Bert has a few different costumes. They don’t change the game play, but do make Q*Bert looks different.

Skills and Abilities
Doodler
Doodler Physiology

Doodler is a Doodler. He doesn't really know much from the base games. What we do know is that this guy likes to jump and shoot things from his mouth. What he shoots can even change.
He also seems to lack the need for oxygen, as he finds himself in places like underwater and space quite often.
Ammunition Generation/Projectile Projection

The Doodler can shoot projectiles from their mouth(?). This projectile can range depending on what game we’re looking at, but the main projectile is a ball of sorts that hurts monsters. Some of these projectiles either ignore or don’t ignore gravity
Pellets
Lasers
Ninja Stars
Bottles
Soccer Balls
Basket Balls
Easter Eggs
Candies
Swords
Cutlasses
Bullets
Bubbles
Rocks
Snow Balls
Batterangs
Hammer
Spatial Manipulation

When the Doodler crosses the edge of the screen, they appear on the other side. This lets them traverse upwards more smoothly, rather than having to move back and forth, just going around instead.
Sports Mastery

The Doodler has played a few sports, mainly Soccer and Basket Ball. Here not only does he shoot their respective ball, but he also goes against other countries and even shoots hops in their respective game. Something tells me killing the other team is exactly legal tho…
Self Sustenance

Despite wearing things like diving suits and space suits, he’s been in space without the need for one many times. This can best be seen in the retro theme.
Light Manipulation

During the Halloween theme, Doodler seems to glow, this can be seen the most prominent with the Ghost costume.
Fire Manipulation

Doodler can seemingly set himself ablaze and shoot into the air.
Stat Amplification

Doodler has been shown multiple times to be able to upgrade his stuff and himself.
Non-physical interaction

Doodler can kill the Flying Dutchman, which is a ghost.
Immortality; Type 4

Doodle Jump is able to come back from death thanks to items like resurrection barrels and krabby Patties. Not only that, but he can be revived simply by you, yes you, watching an ad. But this starts leaning into strange territories if it should be included.
Q*Bert
Noser Physiology

What Qbert is isn’t exactly explained. The species is called Q*Bert or Noser depending on the piece of media. What we can see is that he’s an orange ball with legs and a long nose, probably why they’re called Nosers. This nose really doesn’t seem to have much purpose other than being a nose and also letting him drink from it. He also seems to have no need for air, show being in space throughout the series just fine.
In the Saturday Supercade, he can use it to hold things by sucking them up. It can even suck and shoot things through his nose. He can also shoot gusts of wind from his knows. Strong enough to push around baseballs.
Arcade Physiology

Wreck-It Ralph is debatably canon to Q*Bert, but it’s important to mention how that applies here. First and for most, all the characters are from arcade machines and are code and data. This lets them manipulate their code and even others through specific means (Like how King Candy programmed Sugar Rush and how Vanellope's code was reprogrammed by Shank)
If you die inside your game, you can come back to life and regenerate due to it being your game. But if you're killed outside of your game, you will die permanently. It is possible to have your code added to other places to negate this, like with Venellope. However, you would have to have sufficient knowledge of code in order to do this.
Pixels Physiology

Pixels is a strange movie. Q*Bert appears a lot in Pixels and in there he’s a weird alien that comes from outer space that takes the form of classic arcade characters. These aliens are seemingly created through light energy.
These characters can reform themselves from most damage they take, even after being broken into tons of… pixels. Q*Bert was also able to reform himself after he got crushed.
Their very being is seemingly able to harm people and things around them, just by touching it, it will start to break down into pixels. This logic does not apply back however, as only pixels are seemingly able to permanently harm and even kill Pixels (Seen with blasters and the cars made from Pixels). This is because they’re light energy, and using the same light energy or super charged light energy seemingly breaks the light form.
These aliens aren’t just limited to the form that they take, being able to change if they’d like, like with Q*bert. That’s where this sentence ends.
It’s also important to mention that these pixels took the form of these classic arcades, copying their entire game. So people who know how to play these games and know cheat codes can take advantage of this.
Problem Solving Skills

While one aspect of Q*Bert is avoiding the enemy. Another aspect is matching all the tiles. This gets tricky whenever the tiles change every time you step on them or when Slick and Sam appear. Other games also expand upon this, like Q*Berts Qubes and Q*Bert (1999).
Limb Extension

Q*Bert can extend his nose. This is shown more in Saturday Supercade, where it operates like an extra limb.
Self Sustenance

Qbert can be in space without having to worry about breathing. We even see him on the moon just fine.
Portal Creation

Whenever you complete a stage or enter a new one, little portals open up and suck Qbert in. These portals take the shape of little vortexes. This actually seems pretty constant with other Nosers, who can create portals.
Light Manipulation

Qbert seems to give off a small level of light around him to let him see in the dark a bit.
Dimension Manipulation

Qbert has actually been shown changing his own dimension, switching through 2d sprites to a 3d model.
Immersion

Qbert can jump into TV’s and games.
Transmutation

When people play Qbert's game for too long, they start to transform into Qbert.
Fourth Wall Awareness

Q*Bert can talk and see outside of his game.
I know a trick…when I see one - q*bert probably
Cave Painting translation

Qbert’s able to read cave paintings that are 50,000 years old… for some reason, and then translate those paintings to others.
Possible Colour Manipulation

It’s not exactly explained why the tiles change colour whenever Q*Bert steps on them. The only other person that can affect tiles is Slick and Sam and then the Player 2. In Q*Bert (2019) they can also be changed with paint. In commercials, Qbert also has changed things by just jumping on them.
Possible Immortality; Type 4

Ignoring the immortalities that come along with Wreck-it Ralph and Pixels, in the base game Q*Bert technically got extra lives, which has been around since the very first game. These aren’t ever really said to be canon or not canon, so they fall into a tricky spot to say if they’re usable. We just wanted to mention these without disregarding them.
Resistances
Doodler
Extreme Temperature

Doodler is just fine in extremely cold places.
Transmutation

Doodler has been transformed into other things like cows and carrots, but he’s still able to move around and attack as his normal self until the effect wears off.
Q*Bert
Extreme Temperature

Qbert is able to be in areas that are extremely cold and hot and be just fine.
Physical Feats
Doodler
Strength

I need a panel of Doodle-Man Prime punching his cosmology
Defeat Monsters by jumping on them or shooting them. Such monsters include UFOs, Robots, Sharks and Rock Monsters.
Can blow up small meteors with his projectiles. This even causes the screen to shake.
Can slam into the ground hard enough to shake the screen and kill monsters.
Doodlers EMP and explode and disable machinery.
His bomb can explode, killing monsters around him and breaking wood platforms and metal platforms.
Defeated many Batman Villains, such as Bane, Penguin, Joker, Mr. Freeze, Riddler.
Durability

Survive getting hit by cannon balls.
Is just fine after platforms explode on them.
Survive running into walls on the Jetpack.
Cam survived getting hit by a rock throw at him.
Can take hits from monsters.
Speed

Doodler can shoot lasers, among other projectiles.
Can dodge laser blasts from space monsters.
Can out jump E.B from HOP.
His space ship can resist the pull of black holes.
His big spaceship is able to travel to planets.
Q*Bert
Strength

Can defeat Slick and Sam by running into them.
Qbert can break a Stalagmite by ramming into it.
The Gem can destroy boulders.
Q*Bert threw the Flying Disk at Coily, hurting them while they were big.
Kicked the Magic Disk into Coily, knocking them out.

He survived his spaceship crashing into the moon.
Crashed into the ground after his parachute failed to open while sky diving.
Survived Ralph tripping over him.
Broke into many pixels and then reformed like nothing happened.
Got crushed by a barrel.
Speed

The Magic Disk was able to outrun his world being sucked into a vortex.
He can dodge arrows being shot at him.
Can dodge blasts from the sky.
The Flying Disk could possibly escape a black hole.
The Flying Disk is the fastest Disk out of any other Flying Disk in Saturday Supercade, easily able to catch up and surpass the other races even with a slow start.
He could dodge laser fire from a Q*Moon Blasters.
Can become faster with the Speed Item.
Scaling
Doodler
Monsters

Doodler fights many different monsters that he can scale too.
Some enemies can shoot lasers.
Planton wears a mech.
Some Batman Villains drop explosive.
Ninja was able to break through a fence.
The Giant Monster was able to destroy the giant statue.
Dinosaurs can throw big rocks.
Q*Bert
Enemies

These are the main bad Qbert goes against. While he doesn’t physically attack them often, he does do so on occasion. These characters don’t have too many feats, but do have some notable ones.
Coily could grow to the size of the Stage.
Coily was able to create a vortex that sucked up Q*Bert’s entire world.
Coily survived getting crushed by a bunch of tiles.
Chest is a Treasure Chest.
Ghost

In the Saturday Supercade show, Q*Bert goes against some ghost, and they surprisingly have some things to mention.
Were able to push around Q*Bert and the gang on multiple occasions.
Q*Ghost was able to pick up a whole house with their magic.
Other Pixels

Considering Q*bert is apart of this aliens race and they’re all relatively comparable, Q*Bert should scale them one some level, at least with reason.
Many Pixels could destroy segments of buildings and vehicles.
Pacman is able to destroy cars with ease.
Pacman with the power pellet, is slightly faster than the ghost cars.
Centipede was able to dodge light rays from basters.
Donkey Kong was able to shake entire gutters and lift barrels.
They were going to destroy the world if they lost (dubious)
Weaknesses
Doodler

Doodler is a strange fellow. In the games we don’t really see much weakness, but in the comics his a bit nervous when it comes to performing certain actions. Also generally if he doesn’t have anything to jump one, he can’t really get far with his goals.
Q*Bert

Q*Bert doesn’t really have many ways of fighting back or even fighting experience for that matter. He mostly runs around and avoids enemies. That’s not saying he doesn’t, he did fight Coily at the end of Q*Bert (1999)
In Saturday Supercade, Q*Berts pretty dimwitted, being tricked and taken advantage of. He also doesn’t seem the most accurate when it comes to shooting his Slippy Doo, missing quite often and running out in inconvenient times.
Other versions of him also suffer from specific weaknesses. In Wreck-it Ralph, if he’s killed outside of his game, he’ll die permanently. In Pixels his form can be destroyed if he’s hit with similar light energy to him or super charged light energy. Pixels also tend to play far with the rules of the game they take the form of, as seen with Pacman, Centipede and Donkey Kong.
Things of note
Crossover Scaling?

So crossover scaling is a weird topic, but to put it blunt. They don’t scale to the real canon versions of the characters. Yes, Doodler fought DC, Spongebob and Hop characters and Q*Bert has interacted with other classic arcades.
Doodler’s characters are blatantly not those canon characters (except EB from Hop, that might be the real guy.) That’s also not just a stylistic choice, those don’t look and aren’t the character.
Q*Berts is a bit more weird. Wreck-It Ralph is debatably canon to Q*Bert, but even then those are specific versions of those characters and the original characters are selective. The issue is that Q*Bert doesn’t have a way to scale to it. Unless you count his 10 second scene, letting him scale to everyone there, then there you go. Pixels are also no different. Those are specific versions of characters. In fact those are aliens that are taking the shape of classic arcade characters, not the real deal.
The two would only scale to those specific versions of those characters that appear in those films and games. In short, those aren’t the real canon characters and they would only scale to those specific versions.
Final Thoughts

(Art from Lucky)

(Art from Eastbound)

(Art from THE)
(Art from Fish)
Now that we’ve laid out all the information at your disposal, we can see which of these jumping alien guys would be able to beat the other.
For this we’ll say that they just happened to encounter each other and just start fighting (character A steps on character B’s shoe ah set up)
Physical Stats
Physical Stats is actually tricky to say who has an advantage over the other. We’ll break down each from here.
For Strength, looking at the feats they’ve performed they both have some strange coverage. They could easily break materials like Ice, Stone, Metal, and other such things. Q*Bert was able to destroy an entire Stalagmite that was bigger than himself, but Doodler is able to destroy small Meteors the size of himself. Most of the time than not, the materials meteors are made are tougher than Stalagmites. However, both do have ways of getting higher through scaling. Doodler should be comparable to the big monster that destroys a giant statue, as they’re able to take hits from, Q*Bert could also scale to Coily, who was able to suck up the entries of Qbert's world. The problem with that feat is that it’s hard to say how powerful that is. Qbert’s world mostly consists of floating islands formed from blocks. And this feat itself was from Coily creating a portal/vortex. Other than that, he can also scale to others who can destroy entire buildings. If anything, Q*Bert may be a bit stronger when it comes to their strength, however that’s not the end of the conversation.
Durability is in a similar category. Both should already be comparable to their strength. Looking at the durability they’ve done, they both don’t really have many feats, other then getting crushed, crashing and getting by things. This part is strange again because a lot of the feats themselves are hard to gauge due to the vagueness of what's going on. This again, who has better durability, but slightly leans towards Q*Bert
Speed is actually an interesting category. Both have shown the capability to dodge lasers. The interesting parts come in their higher end speeds. Doodler has shown on multiple occasions to be fast enough to resist the pull of black holes, with and without equipment. However, Q*Bert, while not as constant or shown directly, should be in similar ranges. With the Flying Disk, we’ve seen him be fast enough to escape his world getting pulled into the portal and Q*Bert Rebooted it’s implied that he left the black hole with his flying Disk. Even then both have things that can get them faster. Most of Doodler’s equipment like Jetpacks and Rockets can get up there, and Q*Bert can increase his speed with the Speed Item. Even if Q*Bert's feats aren’t as constant or directly shown, he should be able to close the gap, that’s even if there is a gap at all.
Ultimately, most of their stats are vague to say which ones are better, and the ones that we can say, they’ve performed similar shows, and have ways to increase them; Speed Item and Stat Amplification. This category is a draw.
Experience
Experience is also worth mentioning. Both have lots of experience in what they do. The real key that lies here is general experience and knowledge vs combat experience and knowledge.
Q*Bert isn’t exactly known for his combat. That’s not to say he hasn't fought before, like in the Show and Q*Bert (1999), it’s just something he doesn’t do a lot. However, he does do a lot of problem solving and uses it to help him. Remember, while the game is simple, that’s what makes it complex. There’s a lot to keep track of; not running into enemies, mapping out how you move on the grid to match the tiles, keep in mind Slick and Sam so they don’t ruin your run. And this is just the first game, other games either add more challenges or take an entire new spin on the game.
Looking at Doodler, he’s not exactly known for his problem solving. Not to say that he doesn’t. A lot of the later half of the games start to get more challenging, but it’s not the kind of game where you need your brain to play, it’s more skill based rather than IQ based. Something Doodler isn’t without is fighting experience. Remember in each game he’s always going against monsters. Unlike Q*Bert, he does attack and has many ways to defend against them. In the Comic, he also directly fights other characters, some that are massive compared to him.
Both excel in the others flaws, Q*Bert has better knowledge and general experience, while Doodler has more combat based experience. Something else to take into account is the time difference. While there’s nothing saying that they have the same time frame, Q*Bert has 27 years of definitive time. Q*Bert has acknowledged their age multiple times throughout the series. This still doesn’t account for Doodlers Combat, he IS better. Heck, he actively has more methods of attacking.
This category is tricky to say who really takes it. If anything, this leans a bit more towards Doodler simple because most times, combat experience offers more for a fight. But that goes into performance territory. This category is also a tie.
Again?? Yes, again AGAIN!
Equipment
Equipment is actually hard to say which is better. Both share similar equipment, but he can split this part into a few different segments.
Both have vehicles, however Doodler does have more. They have Jetpacks, Space Ships and even a giant Spaceship. Comparing this too Q*Berts, which is basically just the Flying Disk and Motorcycle (Yes, the Flying Disk, Permanent Disk and Magic Disc are different, they’re practically the same. The thing is that the Flying Disk does match these, considering both have shown escaping black holes. Interestingly, Q*Bert is the only one shown attacking with their vehicle, throwing them at Coily. The Motorcycle however, is not as impressive, as it’s really just a normal motorcycle.
Now with matching equipment, they actually have a lot that matches. Both have shields, bombs, costumes and even ways to freeze time. The problem here is that a lot of things cancel out. The shields protect them from damage for a limited time, rendering both mute. These shields also help against things like the bombs. A similar issue arises with their time stops/immobilising tactics. Q*Bert has about 4 different ways to stop Doodler; Freezing Ball, Stopwatch, Q*Moon Blaster and the Red Ball Card. Meanwhile, Doodler has the Clock. Between this, it should seem like Q*Bert could use this to get the upper hand. Well, the Q*Noon Blaster is just hard to land simply because he could dodge it. With the other they activate upon usage, for both. The thing is that they both have similar levels of speed and it is hard to say who could actually get this off in time. Technically whoever did could get the win in this case. Another thing to mention is that Doodler’s costumes do have actual effects, either providing special effects and changing what he shoots. I also would think they’re both falling for the others' hiding trick, with the Leaf Shield and the Cutout. Both are smart, but can also be fooled. Looking at things like the Doodle Jump Comic and Saturday Supercade Show, they’ve been duped before by pretty simple and comedic things. Admittedly, Q*Bert more times than Doodler.
Now for the items they don’t share. Doodler holds one solid advantage with the EMP, disabling any electronics that Q*Bert has. So what does this affect? Strangely the Flying Disk probably wouldn’t be affected, as these lay in a gray area on how they work. What they would work on is things like Q*Moon Blaster, Motorcycle and Ghost Catcher (which is another reason why the Q*Moon Blaster just isn’t reliable). Doodler also has generally more items at his disposal rather than Q*Bert, but a lot of them are more movement based. Q*Bert does have pretty useful tools as well, while not all of them are; the Speed Item, Goo Orb and Slippy Doo. If Q*Bert did use the Goo Orb, all he’d have to do is just touch him and he'd instantly die. That would require him to reach and touch him, which with Doodler’s movement options and vehicles, makes it hard to do. There is one thing that we’ll talk about soon however.
Both really don’t have a good advantage over the other through their equipment, making this category a draw as well.
Abilities & Immorality
This is a major category to discuss, as this gives us a more clear picture of how this debate could turn out.
Talk about their physiology for a second, both were strange creatures. Both seemingly lacked the need for oxygen and glow in the dark. And other than vaguely looking like each other, that’s kind of where it ends. Remember Q*Bert has three different physiologies to pull from on what exactly that is, and considering both’s man physiology is pretty limited on what we know, that helps us a lot. Doodlers have a distinct ability to shoot things from their mouth, many different kinds of things. This isn’t something Nosers really have. What Noser's noses can do is stretch, and quite far too. Q*Bert pretty much uses it as an extra limb throughout the Saturday Supercade. Comparing both of these, Doodler’s is just better. It offers more variety and better range. A lot of things Doodler shoots don’t fall or slow down. Q*Bert can shoot things from it, like Slippy Doo, but those are limited, meanwhile Doodler’s ammunition is not. However looking into Wreck-it Ralph and Pixels, things get a bit more interesting.
As an arcade character he mainly gets two things; Regeneration and Immortality Type 4,8. The problem with this is that it requires him to be in his home game, and even in Wreck-It Ralph, he doesn’t have a game. He does become a part of Ralph’s game, and you could argue he had his code added to it, that still doesn’t change the fact that he needs to be there. As for Pixels, this does add a bit more. Doodler wouldn’t be able to make physical contact and any he did, Q*Bert could just reform back from. However, this form does have one major weakness to it. It can be disrupted by light energy, something that Doodler can shoot, and that still doesn’t require him to get close. Also, the Pixels do tend to play far with their game counterpart as well.
Q*Bert does technically have more things just with his physiology alone, but could be countered with by Doodler as well. Q*Bert just doesn’t come with a nature attack, and one with range at that. Just touching Q*Bert couldn’t be affected as a means of attack, as Doodler has many movement options.
Speaking of movement options, that’s something Doodler has over Q*bert. Q*Bert is able to create small portals to enter and exit stages, the capabilities of this are unknown. Meanwhile, along with a lot of his equipment aiding with this, he can just just appear on the other side of the screen with his Spatial Manipulation. He can also just shoot off in fire if he needs to get some height, and this doesn’t require any equipment.
Now to the big part of this; their immortality. First and foremost is Q*Bert's extra lives fall in a weird gray area on whether or not they’re canon. So which one is better? Hard to say. They technically are equal, as it just brings them back after death. The thing is that Doodler had more. All Q*Bert has the lives, meanwhile Doodler has Resurrection Barrel and Krabby Patties; this is also ignoring that there’s multiple different Resurrection Barrels. Also the way Arcade lives work is different from how Doodler’s does. If Q*Bert has 3 lives, he has the first (his starting) and then 2 extra lives to work with. Q*Bert’s lives are tied into his current life. Looking at Doodler, those stored up separately then his current life. Also, this isn’t counting the player just watching an ad to be brought back, which that can never run out compared to Q*Bert’s life. And if we’re counting the lives, then it’s not unreasonable to count resurrection through watching an ad.
Overall, Doodler has a way to attack from a distance built into him. He also seems to have better immortality, which ultimately is what can push Doodler towards winning. Despite being equal on a lot of things, immortality and abilities pushed this going towards Doodler. Doodler takes this category.
Conclusion
Doodler

Advantages:
=Similar stats.
=Neither held a huge experience edge in general.
=Doodler’s vehicles and Q*Bert’s flying disk was about equal.
=A lot of equipment was canceled out with each other.
=/+Both had ways of coming back from death, but Doodler’s Immortality through barrels and krabby patties were more “canon”.
+Doodler could still have methods of attack even if everything was stripped from him.
+Doodler could take out machinery with the EMP.
+Had more equipment overall.
+Greater movement options
Disadvantages:
-Didn’t technically have an instant kill move, like Q*Bert and the Goo Orb.
-Not as much general experience.
Q*Bert

Advantages:
=Similar stats
=Neither held a huge experience edge in general.
=Doodler’s vehicles and Q*Bert’s flying disk was about equal.
=A lot of equipment was canceled out with each other.
=Both had ways of coming back from death…
=Has more experience in terms of age.
+Goo Orb would be an instant kill…
Disadvantages:
=/-…Extra lives are unclear how “canon” they are compared to Doodler.
-…but he’d need to get close enough to touch him.
-If he was stripped of everything, he wouldn’t have many ways to attack other than through direct physical contact.
-Q*Moon Blaster was the worst method of immobilising Doodler.
Overall, this was actually a really close debate, considering they matched each other in a lot of categories. Most of their stuff either canceled out or could be used against the other to counter something the other had. Where Doodler shined out was that he always had a way to attack and his immortality was a bit more reliable when it came to how it operated and if it should be used. Doodler simpled out jumped Q*Bert in this debate…

Post Blog Notes

This was actually a fascinating blog to work on. This started out of just wanting to make a blog after not finishing one last two months and also wanting to research both characters. By the end of it, it was so awesome to actually complete; looking at both’s history over the years (Even if Doodler’s not as old) It was fun.
Also thank you for reading.

super cool, Hungry Hungry Hippos vs Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Blog Hasbro vs Mattel "Sometimes... the only way to heal our wounds is to make peace with the demons who created them," -Dr. Ishiro Serizawa Intro Board games have existed for years, but 3D plastic board games didn’t come out till the 1960s, as they just figured out how to use plastic molds to mass produce products. While these two weren’t the first 3D board games, they are unique to the fact you control the pieces by pressing buttons and levels. These two have been around for decades and are still popular to this day.
