“I am Speed”
-Lightning Mcqueen
Intro
There’s lots of danger in this world. Sometimes you have to fight for what you believe in… or run in the other direction… And these 2 extremely agile runners represent this ideology in their respective, ways
The SpeedRunner, The self-proclaimed fastest superhero alive as of 2011.
“Time for a Speedy Run!”
The Runner, running with the resistance since 2012.
“AHHHHHHHHHH”
There is a little bit we do have to explain when it comes to what we’ll use for this match up, since technically there’s a few different routes we could go when it comes to both. Something else to note is that we’re using the SpeedRunner and Runner, despite what the title says. It’s just worded like that to avoid confusion.
For The SpeedRunner, obviously we’ll include SpeedRunners. Now in terms of other things used, we’ll include the original SpeedRunner Web-Game. We’ll also loo over SpeedRunners 2, even if it’s not a lot. We won't include other games SpeedRunners has crossover with, like Cook, Serve, Delicious!, Giana Sisters and Toto Temple Deluxe. This includes the secret characters that can be unlocked in the game.
For The Runner, things are a bit more complicated. For starters, we’ll use Vector Classic and Vector Remaster. Now additionally we’ll also be including Vector 2.despite it being delisted now, it’s still added onto established lore and still can be considered canon. We’ll also look at some of Nekki’s other projects that take place in a shared universe, which is Shadow Fight, SPINE and Ninja Party.
Another thing to mention to help with potential confusion is the names of both characters.
Runner = Vector
This is mainly to avoid whenever we’re talking about both in the Final Thoughts on. So every now and then we will call Runner “Vector”.

Hiya, Lucky here, this was actually a really nice break from some of our other projects. Pretty quick and easy.
Hey, I’m Eastbound, not to be confused with Westbound. I understand it happens all the time but we are completely separate people.
Hi THE here, only did the winner image again (sadly this time)
I didn't actually do anything in this blog..
Helloooo this is is shaggy and welcome to my minecraft lets play video
Disclaimer: This is mainly for fun, so things may be wrong, but you know it's about the journey not the destination. (also probably spelling mistakes but like) also Spoilers.
Background
Speedrunner, the King of Speed
In the world of speedrunners, speed means everything. For some reason it seems as if every being in this world has a metaphorical “Need for Speed”. And there's one that stands above the rest as the self proclaimed “Fastest Man Alive”. Speedrunner, the hero dawned in an aerodynamic black suit. He’s the protector of New Rush City, ever since he saved it from an evil mad bomber that placed multiple bombs around the city. Nowadays he lives to prove himself as the fastest alive, taking on any that dare challenge him to a race. Like some of his biggest rivals like Buckshot, an anthropomorphic deer hunter. Moonraker, a time traveling space hero. And even his biggest rival, The Falcon who tries to…stop Speedrunner and his friends from destroying the city…?
Ok in reality, Speedrunner maybe isn’t the greatest hero around. Though he doesn’t mean to, his races usually end up causing a ton of destruction. Due to the wild power ups that are used during the battles. This has even resulted in the destruction of an entire city. This is the part where I would talk about Speedrunners great arc to redemption but…nah not really. He kinda just keeps doing it, causing mass amounts of property damage on the way. A far cry from his debut, where he once disabled time bombs now he shoots missiles in public casinos. But you know what they say, nothing slows down the Speedrunner. Not even the mass amount of destruction he leaves in his wake, as he seems to be continuing his spree in the upcoming Speedrunners 2: Kings of Speed! And plus he’s not all bad, he’ll still always go out of his way to save a citizen in need…even when that citizen is in danger due to his own actions.
Runner, the Resistances’ Acrobat
Lines of desks, full of people, all wearing the same head device. Hypnotic words played over and over, controlling them. Each and every one of them is a mindless slave to the system, all but one. And for that one, it would change their life forever, Runner. They tear off their head device, and run. He ran and ran aimlessly; only to get away, to get out. So he ran and jumped from the building, not what would even be on the other side. He was not apart of the resistance. He would run from building to building, tell it he had nowhere else to run. But then, an unnamed man saved him, giving up his life for him. So he kept running. He then caught a ride from a woman to safety, and continued to run. He ran, till he couldn’t, but his efforts were in vain. They eventually caught up, and took him away? Instead of killing him, they would decide to run tests on him…
He wakes up, noticing him being in a pod, labeled Experiment No. #307. A voice calls out “Destruction Program”. But instead of killing him, he’s allowed to run. He was now in The Complex. They would provide Vector with a suit of armor called “Protocol”. He would be forced to run, until a hacker from the outside would help Runner into the Maintenance. Here another clone would be sent after, to find him. The only issue is that the Runner's DNA was now contaminated, so he would need to fix it. But from this point, we don’t really know (Nekki abandoned Vector 2) still even with an unknown fate, Runner would still be the catalyst for the Resistance, for there is always some kind of hope.
Weapons and Equipment
SpeedRunner
Grappling Hook
Speedrunner can use their grappling hook to swing across areas, this also helps them gain a good amount of speed due to gaining extra momentum. There's really no cool down to it and it’s the funnest thing ever.
Golden Grappling Hook
With the Golden Grappling Hook, Speedrunner can use it to shoot at an opponent in front of them, grabbing them and yanking them back, and launching Speedrunner forward, essentially switching spots with an opponent.
Homing Missiles
Speedrunner can shoot a whole missile at opponents, which will home onto an enemy and travel towards them. Exploding on impact. There's even a triple variant which shoot three homing missiles.
Crates/Trio Crates
With both crates and Trio Crates, Speedrunner will drop crates behind him to try and trip up and slow down enemies that get hit with the crates. Trio crates allow him to hold on to three instead of just one at a time.
Time Bomb
Speedrunner will drop a bomb behind him, and whenever he presses his big red button which will cause the bomb to go up in a massive explosion.
Invincidrill
Upon activation, Speedrunner will be engulfed in a blue magical drill. It gives them a major speed boost and makes them completely invincible. Also drilling through any poor soul that gets in the Speedrunners way.
Shockwave
Speedrunner releases a major shockwave all around him, anyone caught in it will be blasted away. Along with this it will destroy most attacks that come in contact with and even reflect others (Like the Fireball).
Freeze Ray
The Freeze Ray will cause Speedrunner to shoot a MASSIVE blue laser out in front of him, anyone that comes into contact with the laser will be frozen completely solid in a big block of ice. This also cancels out any action the opponent was using and renders them completely incapable of using any other actions until their unfrozen. In the trailer it’s portrayed as a little ray gun.
Fireball
The Speedrunner will shoot a giant flaming ball of magma that will bounce across the ground until it hits a wall or an enemy where it will blast them upwards. Seemingly just shoots out of their hand when they use it.
Boostacokes
Speedrunner can drink “Boostacokes” that can increase his maximum speed up to forty percent of their normal maximum.
Jet-Pack
With this gadget, Speedrunner can perform a second jump while in the air.
Wall Climbing Gadget
A wall climbing gadget that allows Speedrunner to hold onto walls and leap off them.
Soccerball
Soccerball
Costumes
SpeedRunner has downed a lot of different costumes when he’s running against all the other characters. They don’t actually do anything, other than cosmetically, however.
River Runner
Shock Runner
Winter Runner
Ultimate SpeedRunner
Beach-Body SpeedRunner

Runner
Suction Cup
During Runners time… running. He meets an unnamed name that would help him escape, but in the process was captured himself. Before he got captured, he gave Vector a Suction Cup to jump from wall to wall. Interestingly, he seems to be able to wall jump as much as he wants, without the Suction Cup denomination over time.
Flying Motorcycle
During his escape, he steals a flying motorcycle. Vector uses this to speed off from the hunters, which he then later crashes. He then later gets it again… only to crash it again. This Motorcycle would be faster then Vector normal so that’s cool.
Gear
While not exactly Gear, some clothing can be bought inside of the Shop of Vector Classic. It consists of shorts, a scarf and a cap.
Force Blast
Runner can use a “Force Blast” whenever someone gets close. Its description describes it as a "Unleash a killing shockwave to get rid of a nearby hunter.” Which actually does seem to kill the Hunter that causes Vector.
Slow Time
Runner could later get a Gadget called “Slow Time”. This lets him slow down his perspective of time to let him get more accurate with his tricks and jumps.
Shocker
Similar to the Force Blast, Shocker uses an electric shock to neutralise a hunter. This works a bit differently than Force Blast, as it's always active when you have it equipped. So whenever a Hunter goes near him, they’ll automatically get shocked.
Magnet
Magnet will bring Coins or Bonuses towards you that are nearby.
Fortune
Fortune turns all Silver Coins into Gold Coins in a level.
Checkpoint
When Runner is defeated or taps the checkpoint button, he’ll return to the last checkpoint.
Keys
Throughout the Complex of Vector 2, there are many different Key Cards for different clearance levels. There’s Blue, Yellow and Red (Blue being the lowest and Red being the highest)
Protocol
In Vector 2, the Runner is given Protocol. This is a hightech suit that comes in 5 different parts, Helmet, Chestplace, Glove, Belt and Boots. Each one helps protect Vector in a different aspect. This suit is later upgraded further, more durable than the last. He also uses the Gloves to constantly hack into the system of the Complex, even when it's deactivated. It can also shine light in front of it whenever it’s dark.
When it absorbs too much damage one of the pieces of the armor will Deactivate, making it not work. Once said part stops working, it will no longer protect Runner.

Skills and Abilities
SpeedRunner
Acrobatic Skills
All the racers in Speedrunners are incredibly acrobatic. Being able to perform infinite wall jumps with ease, being able to double jump, sliding under obstacles at incredibly high speeds, and even dodging speeding hooks and missiles that come their way.
Supernatural Stamina
Nothing slows Speedrunner down! And you can take that basically completely literally. It’s said he rarely ever stops running to prove that he’s the fastest, and he’s still competing with beings of supernatural origin with ease. He can run for basically ever without getting tired, the only real thing slowing him down being when he slips up on obstacles.
Some Combat Skill
Should be comparable to Unic, who is a fellow superhero capable of delivering powerful kicks midair. He was also able to outmatch a legendary big game hunter who was trying to kill Unic as well, named Buckshot. Along with this the races Speedrunner finds himself in are incredibly competitive and are much more akin to battles then actually racing.
High Intelligence
Speedrunner is surprisingly intelligent, but usually lets his ego get in his way. He was smart enough to disarm Buckshot during their encounter and could disable bombs in less than two seconds!
Superhuman Tolerance
Speedrunner, just like anyone else in Speedrunners, can basically shrug off any attack sent their way. Being completely frozen, exploded, being kicked in the face, and even falling face first from the top of a building will AT BEST stun the Speedrunner for just a moment.
Speed Enhancement
Speedrunner can activate a “Boost” during the game that enhances his speed and allows him to go even faster than normal. Speedrunner has to build up boost during the match and has a limited supply of it until he needs to build it back up again.
Immortality Type 4
The only real way the Speedrunners die in Speedrunners is through this fire wall that comes closing in on them. The game itself specifies that this IS death, that they do die when this happens. But they come back just fine during the next round, even during the story mode after winning a full match characters will still come back and continue on. Showing that all of the Speedrunners have some sort of Type 4 immortality.
Runner
Acrobatic Skills
Why does he do this? Because it’s awesome. He knows many different types of tricks that he performs throughout the games. Sometimes these tricks can be used in order not to lose speed, even gain some or simply to show off.
Supernatural Stamina
Runner can run for extended periods of time. The only time he’s shown getting tired is whenever he needs to stop, but even then he can get straight back to running, or just not stop. Along with all his running he’s constantly jumping from buildings or doing tricks, which would also take massive amounts of energy.
Acceleration
When Vector needs to speed up, he’ll start to run ever faster than before. In Game, this is usually designated with Arrows. Here he can run fast enough to jump from huge gaps and buildings. He can even stop almost instantly after he goes full speed.
High Pain Tolerance
Vector has a higher pain tolerance than most. While he is just a human, he can survive hits and falls that would kill a normal person, and just get up.
Immortality Type 4
At the end of Vector Classic, the Runner is taken to a lab. In Vector 2 we find out that this was used to study his DNA and clone him. Every time he dies, they bring back another Clone, each one called Subject and the number clone they are. Clones are basically identical to their original, keeping their habits and memories. So anytime Runner dies, he will be cloned again with everything from the previous Clone’s memories and habits.
Vector can also come back by “Reanimating”, which can resemble him even after being disintegrated, constructing him not too far from where he died.
In Vector Remated, you can use the “Checkpoint” Booster to create checkpoints and go back to them wherever you are captured or killed.
Resistances
SpeedRunner
Extreme Temperature Resistance
Speedrunner can get hit with a freeze ray, which encases him in a block of ice. This does slow him down but he's able to live perfectly fine in this extreme cold and can even break out of it after a couple seconds.
Runner
Mind Manipulation
Pretty much the catalyst for the entire franchise. He’s one of the few people who were capable of not falling for AI in the first game. The reason is due to it coming from a similar AI that would keep people at peace and manipulate them with their voice, which nearly all the AI in Vector are based around
Biological and Radiation Manipulation
In Vector 2, Runner’s DNA becomes contained by radiation from the Maintenance level of the Complex. However, even with his DNA being contaminated the only real issue would be possibly affecting future clones and their DNA structure. However, even then, all future clones don’t seem to have any effect either.
Physical Feats
SpeedRunner
Strength
Can break through wooden crates
Comparable to Unic, who can deliver powerful kicks
Can carry a woman midair with ease
Can lift up the mad bomber with just one hand
Can break out of solid Ice
Can easily chuck people multiple yards back with the Golden Grappler, seen especially in the Speedrunners animated trailer
Missiles deliver powerful explosions, that even break through buildings in one of the comics
Timebomb also delivers a big explosion that can be remotely detonated
Shockwave causes…a big shockwave that has a large area of effect. Big enough to send a whole room of people away in one of the comics
Invincidrill can easily break through walls of a building with ease
Durability
Can run into crates, causing them to break with no physical injuries
Can easily survive big explosions with no physical damage, just being stunned for a moment
Uses the Timebomb explosion to boost their speed
Can shrug off massive shockwaves
Can survive being in encased in a giant block of ice
Can tank the Invincidrill which can break through walls with ease
Fell from the top of the skyscraper to the floor face first with no noticeable injuries, and even still won the race he was participating in.
Speed
Is incredibly athletic, literally dedicated their entire existence to speedrunning
Can enhance their speed with boost and boostacokes
Can enhance their speed through Invincidrill
Can use explosions to boost their speed
Can dodge Fireballs with ease
Can dodge multiple Homing Missiles at once
Can dodge a golden grappler shot within a split second by diving under it
Won a race against Unic, Hothead, and Moonraker
Beat Unic, The Falcon, and Moonraker MULTIPLE times over
Won a race where he first fell from a skyscraper then facefirst onto the floor, and in the same race he took time to gloat in front of his opponents
Outran the destruction of all of New Rush City (New Rush City seems to be a big metropolitan city, having multiple real life landmarks from major cities such as St. Louis and Seattle. And the destruction took around 12 seconds to complete.)
Implied to be the fastest their is in terms of the Speedrunners verse
Runner
Strength
Runs fast enough to tear through paper doors
Can run through glass.
Can send a big ladder flying by just running into it.
Comparable to the unnamed man who could pull, carry and hold Runner.
Force Shock can create enough electricity to kill someone.
Shocker can produce a similar shock that neutralises Hunters.
Protocol uses an EMP that powers off all electronics on screen.
Protocol can produce an EMP that can turn off the power to most of the Complex.
Protocol can restore power up the Complex after
Durability
Can survive huge falls without getting hurt at all.
Survive running to different objects and even hitting their head at fast speeds that would normally kill a human.
Can survive running full speed into things.
Survived crashing his Flying Motorcycle.
Protocol can protect him from lasers that disintegrate normally.
Protocol can let him survive explosions that would disintegrate him.
Protocol takes hits from electricity that would normally disintegrate Runner.
Protocol can protect from Fire that incinerates him.
Speed
Can out run Hunters, sometimes multiple at a time.
Run fast enough to clear large gaps between buildings.
React fast enough to catch themselves from falling off a hang glider and swing back onto the buildings.
React fast enough to dodge a Hunter flying at the speed of the flying motorcycle.
Could briefly out run a train.
Can outrun the Swarm security bots.
Can react to the flying robots that the Hunters can’t.
Can scale to Micki who can dodge gun fire (dubious)
The Flying Motorcycle would be faster than Vector.
Weaknesses
SpeedRunner
(Art from Bleustew on Steam)
Speedrunners arsenal mainly comes from pickups he finds around the arena in which he’s racing. Which makes his arsenal pretty inconsistent. To make matters a little worse he can also only hold onto one of these pickups at a time, meaning he only has access to one of multiple items at a given moment (This does not apply to The Grappling Hook, Jetpack, or Climbing Gear).
Speedrunner also has a pretty big ego, which causes him to gloat and take things less seriously which could cause him to get into trouble.
Runner
(TN from NekkoDude on youtube)
At the end of the day, Runner is still human. He does have his Protolol, but it can break. Without his armor he isn’t as durable and anything major will kill him. And while he can come back through multiple means, it still won’t help against something that would kill him again.
Vector also isn’t one for fighting. In fact we don’t even know anyone in the verse fight, other than Shadow, May and Kid, but they all come from a completely different world from Vectors. So if Vector does run out of equipment, he’s pretty defenceless.
Things of note
Speedrunners Scaling?
Speedrunners has a massive cast of characters to select from, and to answer the question if Speedrunner should scale to all of them the answer is…kinda? Ok, Speedrunner can scale to basically all of the main original cast in Speedrunners, this includes basically any character that was originally made for Speedrunners. The only problem is that for the most part Speedrunner himself has the best feats out of any of them and has appeared in the most media so we really didn’t bother going to indepth on scaling, any relatively important piece of scaling has been included in physical stats instead of given its own section.
The question mark comes from the fact that there's a lot of cameo characters within the game, including Scout from TF2, Characters from Payday, and even Youtubers like Markiplier! There's a lot of stuff that could get pretty crazy if we went and looked into it (Especially the youtubers) but we decided against it for two reasons. The first is the canonicity for these is dubious at best and the second is because its kinda a stretch to say they can scale physically for the most part regardless of seeing as their mostly only racing (Besides speed, we could scale that but for the previously mentioned reason we aren’t).
Does Runner scale to other Nekki Characters?
So this is a pretty strange one. A lot of Nekki’s characters do share a verse in their capacity. He knows at the very least Shadow Fight, SPINE and Ninja Party do take place in the same general verse. But this is where things are kind of muddy. Shadow has plenty of different feats that could improve Runners states. There’s two main issues with this.
First, Shadow is directly quoted to be a Clone of Shadow. So what does this mean? Well, we do actually know that clones are pretty much a perfect copy of the original, keeping all skills, habits and memories; as we figure out in Vector 2. So these clones of Shadow should scale directly to the main Shadow from Shadow Fight.
Second issue however, is it consistent? The game seems to use Base Shadow, so it would scale to his normal feats. A good feat is characters surviving Asteroid Magic, which hits them with an asteroid. Even with its size, it is still far past what a normal person could survive, being around building level. The thing is we don’t really see anyone capable of surviving or hurting on that level (Vector could with Protocol, but it’s hard to scale them to this) This also applies to feats of speeds as we, with them reacting with natural lightning, which is far faster than anything we see in in terms of speed in Vector.
The same is similar with Kid. Ninja Party is pretty different to Vector, with it being more cartoony and characters surviving way beyond what Runner could scale too do to it not really being consistent with the rest of the feats in Vector.
In short you can’t really scale to Shadow, May or Kid due to their feats not being consistent with the rest of the showings in Vector. However there is one other character that could lead to something more constant…
What about Micki?
This one’s a bit more interesting as SPINE most likely takes place in the same universe unlike Shadow Fight. We see Micki capable of dodging bullet fire from all sorts of different guns. Now she does this using her SPINE, a Tensor-Operated Microprocessor. Without it, she most likely wouldn’t be able to.
So could Vector scale to this? It’s hard to tell. We do see characters capable of reacting to things like vehicles going at top speeds. This is pretty constant with Runner and Hunters. The thing is, Hunters are capable of chasing down and even shocking Micki before she can react. This is pretty different from the other characters. Being in the same universe actually aids this, as it's far more reliable then something Shadow is capable of.
In Short, Runner scaling to Micki is far more reliable then Shadow or Kid as those two come from a different universe, Shadow also being a clone, while Micki is actively taking place around the same time as Vector and the resistance.
Final Thoughts

(Art from Lucky)
(Thumbnail from THE)
Now that we're done with the run down for both. Let’s see which one of these speedsters would win the title of King.
Strength and Durability
Starting with physical strength, both characters aren’t especially known for their physical strength. Both can or are comparable to characters who could lift people with relative ease. However, SpeedRunner can also put up far more consistent and higher levels of strength. Runners' individual feats are not too much of a far cry for a regular human to pull off. Speedrunner on the other hand can break out of being encased in solid ice, fling people around with ease, and during the animated trailer through Hothead nearly a football field worth of distance with just a single throw. This gap is only further when we account for all of SpeedRunners gadgets, allowing them to use missiles and timebombs to cause massive explosions.
Base Durability (Without any of their Equipment) is also not terribly close. We’ve seen SpeedRunner survive being hit with Fire Balls, being frozen solid and even countless explosions (which he’s even used explosions to boost his own speed as a boost). The Runners definitely superior then an average human when it comes to durability, but most things that would instantly kill Runner would barely even scratch Speedrunner. But with Protocol isn’t a different story. Protocol is capable of protecting Vector from explosion, laser and electricity that normally would instantly disintegrate him. But Protocol itself doesn’t have infinite durability, and will break after enough damage done to it meaning Runners boost won’t last forever. Even then, Protocol still only really closes the gap between Runner and Speedrunner, Speedrunners own base feats still keep up if not triumph over anything Protocol can protect the Runner from.
It’s pretty clear that Speedrunner has far better strength and durability then Runner, in both base and including equipment. This means Speedrunner pretty comfortably takes this category! (Lucky forgot the A in “Dura”, pretend like that didn’t happen)
Mobility
Next up is Mobility, for this section we’ll be going over general mobility and also speed (Travel, Reaction, and Combat), we’ll cover general mobility first. This category is pretty important for a matchup like this seeing as both characters are defined by their ability to move around. Both can wall jump and slide around to evade obstacles pretty equally. Speedrunner seems to jump a bit higher but in terms of things they can both do their pretty equal.
But diving into boths more specific mobility abilities, Speedrunner seems to have far more. Speedrunner can double jump both naturally and with his jetpack, can use their grappling hook to swing around and gain momentum, can boost of their own Timebomb explosions, and can latch onto others with the Golden Grappling hook. Runner on the other hand has…very little extra mobility options at least in comparison. They have their flying motorcycle which is actually really helpful and definitely helps him close that gap, but it’s not enough to cover all of Speedrunners options and Runner is VERY well known for crashing that poor flying motorcycle so…general mobility goes to Speedrunner.
Both are very well known for their speed so it’s also very important to find out who's faster in every sense of the word (Travel, Reaction, and Combat). Now Runner is definitely fast, being able to outrun basically everyone in his game and even outpacing a train for a moment. But nothing he performs gets even a little close to the feat Speedrunner performed when completely outrunning the entirety of New Rush City’s destruction in the animated trailer for the game. And besides those feats, Speedrunner has far more consistent and plentiful speed feats that far outperform the Runners.
In terms of combat speed, Speedrunner is comparable to Unic and was able to disarm Buckshot's rifle. Runner’s suit allows them to blast some hunters away but nothing directly comparable to Speedrunner. Also Speedrunner has access to missiles and a freeze ray so like…combat speed also goes to Speedrunner. Speedrunner would also take reaction speed being able to dodge missiles and react to explosions but if you scale Runner to Micki they can actually match up pretty well in terms of this category.
But despite that, Speedrunner pretty clearly has an overall edge in terms of speed. Combining that with their edge in general mobility pretty clearly gives Speedrunners this category.
Skills and Abilities
Both actually do share certain Skills and Abilities like Acrobatics, Supernatural Stamina, Incredibly high pain tolerance, Speed Boosters (vaguely), and even immortality. We’ll tackle each one of these to see who overall should take this category!
Lets start with the ones their either equal in or practically equal in, like Acrobatics. They do have some difference in acrobatic skill, like Speedrunner grappling skills and Runners parkour skills that they constantly overdo. But in terms of what's important, both can jump long distances, wall jump, and sliding under obstacles. Supernatural Stamina is more of the same, we really haven’t seen a limit for these two so it’s best to assume they're both equal.
Lastly in terms of what their equal in is their immortality, which would usually be a big important thing in a blog…but not so much for this one. Seeing as both have the exact same type and just kinda…respawn after clearly dying shows that their immortalities are completely equal in this regard. Neither have an ability to bypass immortality either so they effectively cancel each other out.
Both have high pain tolerance but it’s pretty clear cut that Speedrunner has a far higher pain tolerance then Runner. Runner can definitely shrug off injuries that would heavily impair the average human but Speedrunner can shrug off injuries that would completely eviscerate the average human, or at least certainly kill them instantly like when he fell from the top of that building.
Now both can also increase their speed but Runners are pretty limited and only really applies itself in short bursts. Compared to Speedrunner who can build up boost and use it whenever he wants for long stretches of time, and this isn’t even factoring in Boostacokes which increases how much boost they can store. It should also be noted that Speedrunners boost is noticeably faster then Runners acceleration.
Now in terms of specific skills or abilities there's not a ton to say, base resistances don’t matter too much cause neither have options to exploit them in the first place so the only real thing to bring up is Speedrunners surprisingly impressive intellect. Now Runner's intellect is unknown and they do seem to be smart but they haven’t shown anything like Speedrunner has so we have to give Speedrunner that too just based on lack of opposing evidence.
Though they have similar skills and abilities, Speedrunner definitely takes this category by a good bit or so. At best Runner is equal in terms of some skills while Speedrunner completely dominates others.
Offence
This is pretty clear cut. Runner pretty much has no real offensive options. Force Wave or Shocker could be considered offensive, but those work more defensively. Meanwhile SpeedRunner has plenty of offensive options such as Golden Grappling Hook, Homing Missiles, Time Bombs, FreezeRay, Fire Ball, and probably their greatest weapon Invincidrill. All of these would normally kill Runner with if they were to land. Runner really doesn’t have anything that could work well offensively against Speedrunner.
In general Speedrunner has much more versatility as well, especially when it comes to actual attacks. And while Runner is almost completely devoid of ranged options, Speedrunner has MANY. Missiles, Grappler Hooks, Fireballs, and a Freeze Ray all of which covers almost the entire screen within their game.
While Speedrunner does have the downside of having to use them one at a time and having to pick them up through pickups, their options are still infinitely better then anything Runner has. The SpeedRunner takes this category with ease due to actually having offence options at his disposal; Offence goes to SpeedRunner with ease.
Defence
Now Defence is a much closer category then Offense. The main kinds of Defence SpeedRunner has are either Shockwave or the Boxes. These would be able to keep Runner away, especially the Shockwave. It’s able to stop the Homing Missiles and Fire Balls from getting near, as well as pushing back other characters. However, boxes aren’t nearly as good and if used incorrectly are nearly completely useless. Now, something truly worth talking about is his Invincidrill. While it is a good weapon, it also does serve as a way to defend against others attacks. It makes them completely immune to everything in the game making it nearly complete Invulnerability. The only real issue is that it’s on a time limit. So once it runs out, you’re left defenceless.
Now compare this to Vector who does actually have two more consistent ways to protect himself. One is Force Blast, which he can use to shock someone with a lethal amount of force, killing them if they get close. This is actually a really good option if SpeedRunner gets close, but the only issue is its manual. However, Runner also has Shock, which does almost the same thing, but with one key difference, it’s automatic. Even if we equate it slightly weaker based on its descriptions. It being automatic and lasting as long as he needs provides far better protection then most of SpeedRunners gear. Though it likely wouldn’t kill Speedrunner it could stun or atleast slow them down enough to keep Speedrunner away.
Combine this with Protocol, it gives Runner many defensive advantages. It lets him not only disable lots of SpeedRunners equipment, but also passively hack into them, shutting them off, Debatably the Grappling Hook, Golden Grappling Hook, Jet-Pack, and the Freeze Ray as it has been depicted as an actual ray gun before could all potentially be hacked by Runner. It also provides Runner with a good option to teleport away or even sneak up on SpeedRunner. These abilities also work even if the suit’s parts are deactivated. Lastly it gives them many resistances to different types of attacks and allows them to power through some of Speedrunners attacks that would usually kill them.
Thanks to Runner's gear, he takes defence due to having nearly all his equipment being defensive in nature. Defence goes to the Runner. (Completely unrelated, the fact that Lucky uses the British spelling for Defense, despite NONE of us being from Britain makes me really angry) (My bad gang, I’m too used to it)
Conclusion
Speedrunners/Speedrunner
Advantages:
+Much Stronger.
+Much higher Durability.
+Their Durability and Higher Pain Tolerance should allow them to power through Runners strongest attacks.
+Much Faster, even before their speed boost options and gaining extra momentum
+Superior Mobility on foot with their grappling hooks, double jumps, and overall superior athleticism.
+Has better fighting experience and skill.
+Has far more versatility, especially in terms of offensive options.
+Better ranged options.
+Missiles, Fireball, and Freeze Ray gives Speedrunner the Attack Potency edge.
+Invincidrill is very strong, giving them a speedboost and full invulnerability.
+Could debatably incapacitate Runner with the Freeze Ray.
+Possibly smarter…
+The Runner has no real way to take them out for good…
Disadvantages:
-...though their own ego would likely get in their way, also it’s unclear how smart The Runner actually is.
-...though Speedrunner doesn’t have a way to take the Runner out for good either.
-Has tech that The Runner can take away from them through their EMP, like their grappling hooks, jetpack, and freeze ray.
-Most of their weapons come from pickups, which means they can only use one of them at a time.
-No great close ranged options.
Vector/The Runner
Advantages:
+Better close range options.
+Their armor allowed them to take a good amount of hits from Speedrunners attacks that otherwise would kill them.
+EMP can disable a good chunk of Speedrunners tech.
+Slow Down can help The Runner keep up with the Speedrunners speed edge.
+Flying Motorcycle helps close the mobility edge.
+Checkpoint allows them to turn back time and try again.
+They have more consistent access to their abilities…
+Speedrunner has no great way of taking The Runner out for good…
Disadvantages:
-...though they have a limited amount and could run out eventually.
-...Though The Runner doesn’t have any good way of taking Speedrunner out for good.
-Couldn’t keep up physically.
-No real hand to hand combat experience.
-Their armor will break eventually, and nearly all of Speedrunners arsenal will kill them.
-Has no real way to close the distance.
-Has never seen anything like Speedrunner before.
-Would likely be overwhelmed by Speedrunners sheer versatility.
While Vector did have some good defensive options, SpeedRunner beat him in every other category. A huge factor in this is SpeedRunner is a super hero, while Runner is just a guy, to some degree. Runner just couldn’t keep up with SpeedRunner.
The Winner is Speedrunner
